Drink, that's all you can.
Listen, that's all you can,
Dream, that's all you can,

{{OCC: Flogging Molly - 'Float' }}

Live, that's all you can,
Be thankful, that's all you can,
Just doin' the best I can,

drank away the rest of the day
wonder what my liver'd say
drink, thats all you can
blackened days with their bigger gales
blow in your parlor to discuss the day
listen, that's all you can

(chorus)
ah but don't, no don't sink the boat
that you built, you built to keep afloat X2

sick and tired of what to say
no one listens anyway
sing, that's all you can
ramblin' years of lousy luck
you miss the smell of burnin' turf
dream, that's all you can

(chorus)

singled out for who you are
it takes all types to judge a man
feel, that's all you can
filthy suits with bigot ears
hide behind their own worst fears
live, that's all you can
it's all you can
it's all you can...do

no matter where i put my head
i'll wake up feeling sound again
breathe, it's all you can
tomorrow smells of less decay
the flowers greet this bloomin' fray
be thankful, that's all you can

(chorus)

a ripe old age
that's what i am
a ripe old age
just doin' the best i can

Night is, night is falling fast.
Time is, time is here at last.
The Leviathan, the Leviathan,

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h56/klomonx/leviathansig10.png' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
has come again. And an army of agony
it will surely bring.
The spell is upon us and has us tightly in its grip.

Find him, Bind him,
Tie him to a pole,
and break his fingers to splinters.

{{OCC: The Decemberists - 'Mariner's Revenge Song'}}

Drag him to a hole,
until he wakes up, naked,
clawing at the ceiling of his grave.

We are two mariners,
Our ship's sole survivors,
in this belly of a whale.
Its ribs are ceiling beams,
its guts are carpeting,
I guess we have some time to kill.

You may not remember me,
I was a child of three,
and you a lad of eighteen.
But I remember you,
and I will relate to you,
how our histories interweave.

At the time you were a rake and a roustabout,
spending all your money on the whores and hounds.
You had a charming air,
all cheap and debonair,
My widowed mother found so sweet.
and so she took you in, her sheets still warm with him,
now filled with filth and foul disease.

As time went on you proved a dead-ridden drunk mess.
Leaving my mother a poor consumptive wretch.
And then you disappeared-
your gambling arrears the only thing you left behind.
And then the magistrate reclaimed our small estate,
and my poor mother lost her mind.

And then one day in spring,
my dear sweet mother died.
But before she did,
I took her hand as she dying cried:
"Find him, Bind him
Tie him to a pole,
and break his fingers
to splinters.
Drag him to a hole,
until he wakes up, naked,
crawling at the ceiling of his grave."

It took me fifteen years,
to swallow all my tears,
among the urchins in the streets.
Until a priory, took pity and hired me,
to keep their vestry nice and neat.
But never once, in the employ of these holy men,
did I ever once turn my mind from the thought of revenge.

One night I overheard the prior exchanging words,
with a penitent whaler from the sea.
The captain of his ship-who matched you toe to tip,
was known for wanton cruelty.
The following day, I shipped to sea with a privateer.
And in the whistle of the wind I could almost hear:

"Find him, Bind him
Tie him to a pole,
and break his fingers
to splinters.
Drag him to a hole,
until he wakes up, naked,
crawling at the ceiling of his grave.

There is one thing I must say to you,
as you sail across the sea.
always your mother will watch over you,
as you avenge this wicked deed."

And then that fateful night,
we had you in our sights,
after twenty months at sea.
Your starboard flank abeam,
I was getting my muskets clean,
When came this rumbling from beneath.
The ocean shook, the sky went black,
and the Captain quailed.
And before us grew the angry jaws of a giant whale.

Don't know how I survived,
the crew was all chewed alive.
I must have slipped between his teeth.
But oh what providence! Oh what divine intelligence!
That you should survive as well as me!
It gives my heart great joy to see your eyes fill with fear.
So lean in close, and I will whisper the last words you'll hear...

The branches: the bones of the liars and thieves.
Rise up above it, high up above it, and see.

Ich trinke Blut
und hasse Licht!

{{OCC: Engelsblut - 'Vampir'; Also I know her fancy lyrics are off with the fancy letters.}}

Find keine Ruh,
bin ein Bosewicht!

Tag für Tag
bin ich allein,
ich bin ein Vampir,
doch will es nicht sein!

Ich trinke Blut
und hasse Licht!
Find keine Ruh,
bin ein Bösewicht!

Ich jage die Leute,
(du jagst die Leute)
sie fürchten mich!
(sie fürchten dich)
Sind meine Beute,
(sind deine Beute)
doch wollen mich!
(doch wollen dich)
Ich bin ein Vampir
und schrecklich allein!
Willst du nicht mit mir Vampir sein?

Ich bin ein Vampir,
komm, hab mich lieb!
Ich bin ein Vampir,
den es nur einmal gibt!

Nimm meine Hand,
komm mit mir mit,
dann gehen wir
den nächsten Schritt!

Mein Sarg ist schön,
hab ihn geschmückt.
Willst du ihn sehn?
Du wärst entzückt!

Die Würmer kriechen
(Die Würmer kriechen, kriechen, kriechen)
über mein Gesicht,
(sie kriechen über mein Gesicht)
doch meine Einsamkeit
(doch meine, meine Einsamkeit)
lindern sie nicht!
(Sie lindern meine Einsamkeit)

Ich jage die Leute,
(du jagst die Leute)
sie fürchten mich!
(sie fürchten dich)
Sind meine Beute,
(sind deine Beute)
doch wollen mich!
(doch wollen dich)
Ich bin ein Vampir
und schrecklich allein!
Willst du nicht mit mir Vampir sein?

Willst du nicht mit mir Vampir sein?
Willst du nicht mit mir Vampir sein?
Willst du nicht mit mir Vampir sein?
Willst du nicht auch ein Vampir sein?

Ich bin ein Vampir,
komm, hab mich lieb!
Ich bin ein Vampir,
den es nur einmal gibt!

Nimm meine Hand,
komm mit mir mit,
dann gehen wir
den nächsten Schritt!

We are but older children, dear,
Who fret to find our bedtime near.

{{OCC: Hypnogaja - Silver Star }}

The magic words shall hold thee fast:
Thou shalt not heed the raving blast.

Born in to freedom they remind me,
to go and protect it blindly.
All of your life is depending,
on who and what you are defending.

Move in for the kill,
until they finally get their fill.

Raised to believe all the hatred,
while all of the innocence faded.
Trust in yourself to follow
the lies just get harder to swallow.

Move in for the kill,
until they finally get their fill.

Lay down your life for what you are.
Live the sacrifice for a Silver Star.
Die with the best of intentions.
Lead to the end by perception.

All of our lives are depending,
on who and what we are defending.

Lay down your life for what you are.
Live the sacrifice for a Silver Star.
Lay down your life, you have come this far!
Sacrifice. Trade your life for a Silver Star.

For a Silver Star.

"If I stand at the sick person's head, you may say with confidence that you can make him well again; then give him some of this herb, and he will recover. But if I stand at the sick person's feet, he is mine, and you must say that he is beyond help, and that no physician in the world could save him. But beware of using this herb against my will, or something very bad will happen to you."

Come with me,
I'll carry you away!

Verlier all Deine Tugend.
Verlier sie ganz bewusst.
Vergiss auch Dein Gewissen,
Weil Du nichts wissen musst.

Schritt fur Schritt
Eins, Zwo, Drei, Vier.
Tanz mit mir.
Schaue nicht zuruck.
Komm mit mir,
Und reiss mich mit!

Ich hab' Dich fest in meiner Hand!
Zieh Dich ganz nah an mich heran!
Tanz mir mir!
Ich nehm' Dich fester in den Arm,
Dass ich Dich besser furhren kann!
Tanz mit mir!

In Wahrheit will ich Dich belugen.
Harte Zeiten sind zu lang.
Ein kurzes Gluck soll uns genugen
Dreh' Dich im Takt zu sussem Klang.

Schlag fur Schlag.
Eins, Zwo, Drei.
Dein Herz will mehr.
Schaue nicht zuruck.
Schritt fur Schritt
Eins, Zwo, Drei, Vier.
Komm mit mir,
Ich reiss' Dich mit!

Ich hab' Dich fest in meiner Hand!
Zieh Dich ganz nah an mich heran!
Tanz mit mir!
Ich nehm' Dich fester in den Arm,
Dass ich Dich besser fuhren kann!
Tanz mir mir!

Ich schmucke Dich zum Tanze,
Flechte Blumen in Dein Haar.
Purpurrot auf bleichen Wangen.
Kleidet Dich ganz wunderbar.

Ich hab' Dich fest in meiner Hand!
Zieh Dich ganz nah an mich heran!
Tanz mit mir!
Ich nehem' Dich fester in den Arm,
Dass ich Dich besser fuhren kann.
Tanz mit mir!

{{OCC: Eisbrecher - Tanz Mit Mir (Dance With Me) }}

Come with me,
I'll carry you away!

Loss all of your virtue.
Loss them completely of your own will.
Forget your conscience, too.
'Cause you don't need to know anything.

Step by step,
One, two, three, four.
Dance with me.
Don't look back.
Come with me,
And carry me away!

I've got you in the palm of my hand!
Bring yourself ever so close to me!
Dance with me!
I'll hold you even more tightly in my arms,
So I can lead you better!
Dance with me!

Truthfully, I want to deceive you.
Difficult times are too long.
A brief span of happiness is enough for us.
Spin in time with the sweet sound.

Beat by beat.
One, two, three.
Your heart wants more.
Don't look back.
Step by step.
One, two, three, four.
Come with me,
I'll carry you away!

I've got you in the palm of my hand!
Bring yourself ever so close to me!
Dance with me!
I'll hold you even more tightly in my arms,
So I can lead you better!
Dance with me!

I'll decorate you for the dance.
[I'll] braid flowers in your hair
Crimson on your pale cheeks
suits you wonderfully.

I've got you in the palm of my hand!
Bring yourself ever so close to me!
Dance with me!
I'll hold you even more tightly in my arms,
So I can lead you better!
Dance with me!

{{OCC: Abney Park - Downtrodden}}

I learned each virtue I was told,
I worked hard to avoid the mold,
but as I saw my life unfold,
there was no place for me.
there was no place for me.

Once I was complete,
with the earth firm under my feet.
My back was strong, my body fleet.
Now I ache all over.
Now I ache all over.

I learned each virtue I was told,
I worked hard to avoid the mold,
but as I saw my life unfold,
there was no place for me.
There was no place for me.

I've been beat.
I've been broken.
I asked for a place and the world as spoken.
I was asleep, now that I've woken,
I preferred my dreams.

I'm tired of guilt. I'm tired of crying.
I'm tired of work, and I've finished trying.
I'm tired of living, and I'm scared of dying.
But there is nothing else.
It was as hard as I begun,
each day harder it has become.

Once I was complete,
with the earth firm under my feet.
My back was strong, my body fleet.
Now I ache all over.

I walked ten thousand miles, ten thousand miles to see you,
And every gasp of breath I grabbed at just to find you,

{{OCC: Ally Kerr - 'The Sore Feet Song'}}

I climbed up every hills to get to you,
I wondered ancient lands to hold just you.

I walked ten thousand miles, ten thousand miles to see you,
And every gasp of breath I grabbed at just to find you,
I climbed up every hills to get, to you,
I wondered ancient lands to hold, just you.

And every single step of the way, of pain,
Every single night and day,
I searched for you.
Through sandstorms and hazy dawns I reached for you.
I stole ten thousand pounds, ten thousand pounds to see you,
I robbed convenient stores cause I thought they'd make it easier.
I lived off rats and toads, and I starved for you.
I fought off giants bears and I killed them too.

And every single step of the way, of pain,
Every single night and day,
I searched for you.
Through sandstorms and hazy dawns I reached for you.
I'm tired and I'm weak, but I'm strong for you.
I wanna go home, but my love gets me through.

Tausend mal hab ich mich betrogen
Tausend mal hab ich dich gekrankt,

{{OCC: In Extremo - Horizont' (Fancy letters off) }}

Tausend mal zuviel geolgen
Tausend mal alles verdrangt

Tausend mal hab ich mich betrogen
Tausend mal hab ich dich gekrankt
Tausend mal zuviel geolgen
Tausend mal alles verdrangt
Alles, alles, alles verdrangt

Doch in dieser Stunde
In der ich dich verloren hab
Weiss ich was ich dir angetan
Und breche über mich den Stab
Wollte doch mehr hinterlassen
Weiss nicht wohin mit meiner Wut
Ausser gegen mich gerichtet
Doch selbst dazu fehlt mir der Mut
... Dort wo der Horizont
Sich mit dem Meer verbindet
Dort wollt ich auf dich warten
Auf dass du mich dort findest...

... Dort wo der Horizont...

Tausend mal zuviel versprochen
Tausend mal das selbe Leid
Tausend mal dein Herz gebrochen
Tausend mal zu spat bereut
Zu spat, zu spat bereut

Doch in dieser einen Stunde
Wenn der Wind soch plotzlich dreht
Habe ich den Sturm geerntet
Den ich selbst einst ausgesat

Wollte doch mehr hinterlassen
Wollte mehr doch fur dich sein

Tausend mal zuviel geolgen
Tausend mal alles verdrangt
Alles, alles, alles verdrangt

Doch in dieser Stunde
In der ich dich verloren hab
Weiss ich was ich dir angetan
Und breche über mich den Stab
Wollte doch mehr hinterlassen
Weiss nicht wohin mit meiner Wut
Ausser gegen mich gerichtet
Doch selbst dazu fehlt mir der Mut
... Dort wo der Horizont
Sich mit dem Meer verbindet
Dort wollt ich auf dich warten
Auf dass du mich dort findest...

... Dort wo der Horizont...

Tausend mal zuviel versprochen
Tausend mal das selbe Leid
Tausend mal dein Herz gebrochen
Tausend mal zu spat bereut
Zu spat, zu spat bereut

Doch in dieser einen Stunde
Wenn der Wind soch plotzlich dreht
Habe ich den Sturm geerntet
Den ich selbst einst ausgesat

Wollte doch mehr hinterlassen
Wollte mehr doch fur dich sein
Als ein würdeloser Korper
Abgekrazt vom Pflasterstein

... Dort wo der Horizont...
... Dort wo der Horizont...
... Dort wo der Horizont...
... Dort wo der Horizont...

I remember there's a story,
Of a woman sentenced to death.
She called up her kids and husband,
Said I won't come home today,

And I won't come home tomorrow,
No I won't come on Saturday,
And I won't get there on Christmas,
No I won't come on Mother's day.

Said I won't come home today
And I won't come home tomorrow
No I won't come on Saturday
And I won't get there on Christmas
No I won't come on Mother's day

So they burned all her belongings
To kill loneliness when night falls
And the room they used to sleep in
Stood there blushing from the naked walls
And with every dress thrown into fire
He would want her more than he ever did
And with every ruby lipstick
He felt trapped in his own guilt

So he wrote an awkward letter
From the bottom of his fragile heart;
See, I never thought I loved you
But the silence tore me apart
With your death in all it's glory
There's no time for me to live
I remember there's a story
Of a man sentenced to grieve.

Grieve, grieve, grieve

{{OCC: ---- }}

The best of trees | must Yggdrasil be,
Skíðblaðnir best of boats;
Of all the gods | is Óðinn the greatest,
And Sleipnir the best of steeds;
Bifröst of bridges, | Bragi of skalds,
Hábrók of hawks, | and Garm of hounds.

---

Now Garm howls loud | before Gnipahellir,
The fetters will burst, | and the wolf run free;
Much do I know, | and more can see
Of the fate of the gods, | the mighty in fight.

---

Then Óðinn rose, | the enchanter old,
And the saddle he laid | on Sleipnir's back;
Thence rode he down | to Niflhel deep,
And the hound he met | that came from hell.

Bloody he was | on his breast before,
At the father of magic | he howled from afar;
Forward rode Óðinn, | the earth resounded
Till the house so high | of Hel he reached.

And when we die
We will die
With our arms unbound

Come the war
Come the avarice
Come the war
Come hell

Come attrition
Come the reek of bones
Come attrition
Come hell

This is why
Why we fight
Why we lie awake
And this is why
This is why we fight

When we die
We will die
With our arms unbound

And this is why
This is why
Why we fight
Come hell

Bride of quiet
Bride of all unquiet things
Bride of quiet
Bride of hell

Come the archers
Come the infantry
Come the archers
Of hell

This is why
Why we fight

Why we lie awake
This is why
This is why we fight

And when we die
We will die
With our arms unbound
And this is why
This is why we fight
Come hell
Come hell

This is why
Why we fight
Why we lie awake
This is why
This is why we fight

When we die
We will die with our arms unbound
And this is why
This is why we fight

So come to me
Come to me now
Lay your arms around me
And this is why
This is why
We fight
Come hell
Come hell
Come hell
Come hell

And this is why
This is why we fight
Come hell

There's something in your eye,
You think you're better.

{{OOC; Dupin is amused and surprised! Dupin used ROBERT FROST POEM REFERENCE AND FRENCH. If you don't know what Dupin is saying, you can look it up on wikipedia/Google/etc., but I think I made it obvious enough. Maybe. I DON'T KNOW.}}

Like you know more than I,
But you're not that clever.

"I have killed before."

The emotional shadows which Jigsaw hid in; what he thought and how he thought, and why he thought that way was of little concern to Dupin. The little flaws Jigsaw had Dupin could exaggerate, he hardly cared for why this dog was that way; he was no therapist. The Plott Hound placed himself among the most elite of his kin; he knew he was far from the best, but he was so close to it. Perhaps one day he could assassinate his brother in order to claim the throne once and for all. However France was far away, and the Plott Hound grew much too bored in the dull streets of France. It was hard to believe, given the dogs he had met so far, but the dogs within France tended to be even more stupid than in general. A pet dog in Japan may have common sense enough to know some things, but in France hardly any street-wise dog knew what a 'car' was. Even his parents may have been among those ignorant, and for all Dupin cared, they could be carted away on the bumpers of such. His thoughts were not of the human kind; he did not discriminate, he manipulated. He was cynical, perhaps, but he only used the faults he saw in others to make them do things to his bidding. If he knew that one dog was quite paranoid, cynical, and much like Jigsaw - what harm was there and telling him that yes, the world is terrible, and that you must watch out. Maybe we can speak of them and slowly earn each other's trust. Dupin had no problem with doing such.

"Yes, you speak the truth, my friend, the world would not be a poorer place if they vanished from the face of the earth, yet I leave them alone and let them live out their lives in peace unless they bother me. Is that not just? In the end I gain nothing from killing them off. Just because you pluck one weed, it does not mean that they will cease to sprout. Thus, my life becomes no better than before."

The Plott Hound listened, ever hearing his friend's ramblings as if they truly meant something to him. Maybe some dogs in the past had made it to a point of friendship with Dupin, but like any spider, he was constantly mending his web, cutting weak strings or those that were too treacherous to walk upon. Those of his canine kind that he had killed had been among these, but he wouldn't boast about such long. The wrong ears may hear him speaking about such, the wrong jaws might speak words to him that allow Dupin to be caught in his own web. But he was not of the sort of a clumsy spider, no, not at all. "You have a point." Dupin eventually declared after letting the silent aftermath of Jigsaw's words 'sink in'. "You are of a noble zort, to let them live. Perhapz one day you be rewarded for doing zuch kindnezz, that iz, if the ignorant ever learn juzt how cloze they came to dezpair." Dupin did not fear death, he did not fear life. What he believed and did not believe were after this life were unknown. Perhaps he was a devout worshiper of 'God', or, maybe, he believed that after this life nothing arose. These were inner feelings that no one, no matter how close they came to the spider at the core of his web, knew. They could say they knew him more than anyone else, but all they spoke were lies. What Dupin's opinion on such blabber was, was unknown. Maybe he had them silenced if they spoke the truth, maybe only if they spoke lies. Who did the killing? No one knew, maybe Dupin had a pact with Death himself, maybe he promised Death a certain umber of souls in return for immortality, and he was simply keeping up his end of the bargain.

"Of course I know that, you shouldn't take me for a fool. But what, then, should one do? We can't all be copies of one another, for that creates a set of problems, but if everyone's different... if there exist minorities in the world, why, then they will be harassed and discriminated! Most cannot understand the differences in others, which creates gulfs between the opposing groups and as long as there is little understanding, there will always be fear, and where there's fear there's hate, and hate is soon followed by crimes. Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun the frumious Bandersnatch! Jazz! What a vulgar thing! Though it does not surprise me. As for the trains, I believe you are right once again, but if you haven't noticed yet I'm not a train. And who has said that the path I had chosen, which is now blocked, need to be the only path for me? There is the common road as well as the path less travelled by, and then there is the path that has never been tread. It is obvious which one I would choose."

The eyebrows of the Plott Hound gently rose, his ears perked forward at Jigsaw's burst of anger, but otherwise he hardly reacted to it; how could he not treat Jigsaw as a child? Not only was it Dupin's nature to, whether or not he wanted to, talk down to others, was not Jigsaw's character of the kind where his mind wandered? As if to prove his point, the hound wandered off on another rhyme, and a loud outburst on the vulgarity of jazz. This seemed to tell Dupin that what he said he been correct; the dog could be as angry as he wanted, but what did it matter? He deserved to be told such things, for what if he went astray? Dupin could easily switch between topics, but unlike Jigsaw he always, always, remained focused. If he did, on some odd chance, become side tracked, it could be guaranteed that his mind still cared and still worked upon it with the same vigor as if he had continuously worked on it. However Dupin now closed his eyes and sighed, "I do not know the exact anzwer for you. I only know that I amuze myzelf with puzzlez-theze help me to forget the ignorant, and to move away from their fear, hate, and crimez. Perhapz in the future we will be rewarded for being martyr knightz, but for now...we muzt zimply move on." He opened his eyes and continued, "but it iz hard, even for myzelf. We either zhare the crowd'z thoughtz, or we become one of the monzterz that they dream of. I prefer to exizt in the latter." Perhaps sincere emotion was in Dupin's words, but maybe is was all for fun. Dupin could relate to Jigsaw, yes, but Dupin's emotions were different. He existed to hurt others, and the more he was hurt, the more he could retaliate. Was it lucky for Dupin to talk to such a changeable fellow? Maybe it was, but he hardly saw it as such. Everyone was a challenge, and Dupin had no fears. He was only mildly surprised at Jigsaw's reactions, and this surprise easily formed into a chuckle and a shake of the head; the more faults and the more Dupin could use, the more that was put before him, the greater fortress of webs he would construct. The blurted, excited words made Dupin do one of these chuckles; before he returned the second half of words that Jigsaw spoke with, seeing as Dupin did not wish to intrude upon the fancies Jigsaw had more than was appropriate. "And that haz made all the differenze," he smirked a wise and wily smirk, knowing what Jigsaw referenced and tossing the fitting reply back.

"It is entirely your own fault, sir. Behold the sage on his pedestal! Watch his gaze trace the landscape below, leaving no stone unturned! And as the cogs move the world's mysteries unfurl, beneath the very mountain of the master sleuth, and the world trembles before the truth!

Jigsaw's cheshire grin only made Dupin shake his head and chuckle once more, for Dupin hardly ever made mistakes and the thought of such amused him more than annoyed him. "If you say so, Monsieur Rhopalocères." Not to say Dupin was incapable of mistakes, but he was quite good at covering them up, or working with them, rather than becoming so annoyed and flustered; besides it pleased Dupin to see that grin of Jigsaw's falter. He had said the correct thing, hadn't he? Oh the butterfly, so easily distracted by the colours of the flowers, he never looks to see the web that is shaded by the brightness of the sun! "You have an admirable talent." Dupin applauded Jigsaw with his way of speaking; acting like he cared much, but in truth he would only remember the poem for his other needs. "Perhapz I could tezt my memory a moment? '"Behold the zage on hiz pedaztal! Watch hiz gaze traze the landzcape below, leaving no ztone unturned! And az the cogz move the world'z myzteriez unfurl, beneath the very mountain of the mazter zlueth, and the world tremblez before the truth." His accent easily added to the poem; it fit him nicely, putting him all above the others, allowing him to take control. The truth would be out in time, and indeed, the world would tremble before the dog who was coloured with stripes like a spider's web.

I walked ten thousand miles, ten thousand miles to see you,
And every gasp of breath I grabbed at just to find you,

{{OCC: K.'s annoyance senses are tingling. }}

I climbed up every hills to get to you,
I wondered ancient lands to hold just you.

To K.'s great distaste, he found himself being followed. Not right away, not at all. He was not a super genius dog, and although he may have been intelligent, he was not super sensitive. Perhaps some may have even described him as insensitive when dealing with others, the only things he truly loved being those numbers of his. Numbers and equations that were above most dogs' ability to think, (and even above some humans') hardly concerned K. Why should they? He was not here to help the canine race, he was here to live without them getting in his way. He could care less what they thought about, as long as they remained silent and looked away when he passed them muttering numbers. Even now K. found himself calculating things that may have not even make sense to those who understood mathematics. He may have been making up numbers or equations that served to purpose, but it amused him all the same, and seemed to answer questions that his brain subconsciously raised in order to censor the world's noises and atrocities from his mind. However his mind was not truly focused on any task, which meant he could be distracted, which meant he would not be as irritable once he was distracted (but you could safely assume he would not take kindly to any distractions).

His brain began to take in more of the buildings and such around him, the scents were appalling, although not as bad as a crowded city's. It wasn't long before he realised there was a lingering and ever available smell, one he was sure was not a part of the town itself. Yet the scent followed him like a shadow, and it did not take long for K. to become curious enough to look over his shoulder and see, to his horror, another dog following him. For a moment K. tried to allow himself to believe that it was a simple coincidence and the dog would turn off into the street, down some alleyway, or that some human would call his name and send the dog back to them. However the look on the Saluki's face was so dreadfully piercing, as if they were going to make it their life's goal to follow him! K. could not have that, could he? He shook his head, however, and moved on, his pace speeding up so as to better try and escape the Saluki. However not long after he had started K. believed it would be of no use - the dog tailing him was a sight hound, a dog built for speed. Even if K. weaved him through the crowd, the dog had concentrated on him, and could easily pick him out of a crowd. K. sighed an exasperated sigh, after all wasn't this what he wanted to avoid? Nothing about this situation would have favourable consequences for him.

Eventually K. made a dead stop and turned 'round to get a clear look at the Saluki. He also was quick with a question for the dog. "Why are you following me? I have no business with you and would like to be left alone." K. was not eaisly pleased, and having the dog follow him hardly improved his mood. Maybe the dog had a logical reason to be following him, and maybe K.'s anger was unneeded. Maybe the Saluki was lost or had mistaken him for another dog - or maybe now would be the time for the Saluki to suddenly turn off his path. K. waited for any of these with his brilliant two different coloured eyes, staring directly at Barnabas, waiting for any reply the sensitive fellow could give. K. had low expectations, but even then it didn't mean he couldn't be let down or made worse. There was always a probability for that. The thought that maybe Barnabas wanted to talk to K. for a legitimate reason - such as being a land surveyor - never crossed K.'s mind, either. He had come to believe that no one wanted him to survey land, they only wished to get in his way. Only wanted to slow him down and irritate him. "If you need directions I can provide none, if you need food I have none. If I did, I wouldn't share it. You can go find food from some human or dog, simply leave me be." K. offered, so that the Saluki had no need to explain anything, he could simply nod and turn away.
